 Guided visit to the Cité de Pierres by miniature train

Follow the tracks of the explorer Edouard-Alfred Martel, this guided visit by miniature train includes a professional guide who will reveal the history of this ruiniform chaos in the heart if the Grands Causses regional natural park. The itinerary takes you through this real city of stones (Cité des Pierres) as it gradually reveals the secrets of this unique natural and cultural heritage site. During the visit you will learn about concepts associated with geology, biodiversity, history and archaeology.

 Guided walking tour of the Cité de Pierres

Set off to explore the Cité de Pierres with a keen and dedicated guide. The visit will include the 7 keys of discovery to the ‘Cité’, depending on the season: geology, panoramic views, giant rock formations, traces of life, the Martel adventure and legends. The Cité de Pierres is a geological site in which you can discover Europe’s largest chaos, the “Montpellier-le-Vieux Chaos”.

Walking access to the Cité de Pierres, a world of Giant Rock formations; a geological site in which you can discover Europe’s largest chaos, the “Montpellier-le-Vieux Chaos”, you will be able to follow 6 different signposted walking trails with heritage information boards and orientation tables. This is an ideal chance to explore this natural site at your own pace, through its panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, its geology, wildlife, human occupation since Neolithic times and the exploration works of Edouard-Alfred Martel.

The “collective” part allows teachers to finance EAC (Artistic and Cultural Education) activities for their classes and students. This part applies to 1st to 6th year students from state and contracted private secondary schools.
