How do I visit the Cité de Pierres?

To visit the Cité de Pierres, you need to come to the site by car. The Cité de Pierres is located in the Montpellier-le-Vieux site, in the hamlet of Maubert, 30 minutes from Millau town centre. The site can be visited on foot, by miniature train or via ferrata. There are also adventure games and one-off events.

The Cité de Pierres is a listed natural site located in the Causse Noir, between the Jonte and Dourbie Gorges. It has unique panoramic views, giant rock formations, typical wildlife for the Causses and an ancient geological history.

What visit trails are there?

There are 6 signposted trails at the Cité de Pierres. The basic entry ticket provides access to the site for a whole day; you can follow a number of these trails during your visit or make up your own.

Are dogs allowed in the Cité de Pierres?

Dogs are welcome on site, provided they remain on a lead. We do strongly suggest that you call reception before visiting for updates concerning processionary caterpillars.

Are pushchairs allowed in the Cité de Pierres?

The walking trails of the Cité de Pierres are not pushchair accessible. Baby carriers are authorised however.

Can the disabled visit the Cité de Pierres?

The miniature train is an ideal zero effort way for the disabled to visit the site.  Provided that you get can aboard without outside assistance, wheelchairs must be folded to be transported on the miniature train.

Why is there an entrance fee for the Cité de Pierres?

The Cité de Pierres is a private site, which has been adapted to make it accessible for everyone. As such the site has to cover its own operating expenses (access, maintenance, preservation, safety, information, staff wages). Just like any other leisure park or botanic garden, the entrance and activities prices are used in their entirety to finance this.

Is there a restaurant at the Cité de Pierres?

You can purchase fresh drinks and small snacks (ice creams, crisps, home-made biscuits) on site. The nearest restaurants are 800m from the site entrance.

What payment methods are accepted at the Cité de Pierres?

On site, you can pay for your entrance ticket by Bank Card, holiday cheques or cash.

Do I need to book in advance to visit the Cité de Pierres?

La réservation est fortement conseillée pour l’accès au site et particulièrement pour le petit train. Dans le cas de la via ferrata, une réservation est obligatoire.

What do I need to bring with me, how should I dress to visit the Cité de Pierres?

You should wear sports or hiking shoes, comfortable clothes, a hat, sun-cream and have water with you when you visit the Cité de Pierres.

How long does the visit last?

Le Pass Journée donne accès au site pour une journée entière. Si vous souhaitez visiter uniquement en visite libre, il est conseillé de prévoir a minima une demi-journée. Si vous souhaitez profiter des autres activités (visite commentée en petit train, jeux de piste et vias ferratas), il est conseillé de prévoir la journée.

What does the Day Pass doesn't include?

Le Pass Journée permet l’accès au site pour une journée et comprend l’accès aux circuits balisés, la visite commentée en petit train, les jeux de piste, les espaces zen et le mini-accrobranche.
Il ne comprend pas la via ferrata qui est une activité en option.

Can we return after leaving?

The entrance ticket is valid for one whole day. You can leave the site and return to as you like during that day.

Does the site have drinking water fountains?

Drinking water fountains are available in the car-park and at the walking trail departure points. You can buy bottled water and fresh drinks to take with you from the shop at the site entrance.

How do I make a group reservation?

Does the site have a car-park?

The Cité de Pierres has a free car-park located at the entrance to the site.

How can I get a reduced entrance price / What are the reduced entrance prices?

Reduced rates (partners, students, unemployed, disables) are only available on-site at reception.
